The Peninsula Foundation and Terry Lumber & Supply Co. are bringing the Building Doctor Clinic, a valuable historic preservation resource, back to our community. This informative program will address how to remedy common old building problems. The evening seminar will be on Thursday, May 1st at 7:00pm in the G.A.R. Hall.
Two building “doctors” from the Ohio Historic Preservation Office will come to Peninsula for the clinic. Scott McIntosh is OHPO’s Technical Preservation Services Manager and has Bachelors and Masters degrees in historic preservation. Justin Cook is OHPO’s History Reviews Manager and has a Masters degree in historic preservation.
In addition to the seminar, each doctor will make five “house calls” on Friday, May 2nd. If you live within 5 miles of the G.A.R. Hall and your house is at greater than 50 years old, you are eligible for a house call. The doctors will review your house and answer your questions but cannot address HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or serious structural questions. If you would like to be considered for a house call, please specify when you make your reservation as listed below.
The Building Doctor clinic is free to the public but advanced reservations are required. Reservations can be made online at the Building Doctor website http://www.ohpo.org/gis/BDindex.htm or by calling 1-800-499-2470.
