Preserving Peninsula's Past for the Future.

Building Doctors Clinic

The Peninsula Valley Historic & Education Foundation, along with Terry Lumber & Supply Co. and the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, co-sponsored the Building Doctor clinic at the G.A.R. Hall Museum on September 16, 2010.

Representatives Scott McIntosh and Lisa Adkins from the Ohio Historic Preservation Office put on a wonderful presentation about restoring and maintaining historic buildings. They also fielded questions from the audience of 50 people, ranging from how to keep a basement dry to how to properly repair windows.

The next morning, the doctors made “house calls” to the members of the previous night’s audience that were interested in having specific questions answered. They were able to provide precise answers to the home owners on what they should do to correctly preserve their house.

The Building Doctor Clinic has been an annual event for over thirty years, going to different cities each year. More information about their next stops as well as the information they presented is available at their website: www.building-doctor.org.
