Preserving Peninsula's Past for the Future.

Legacy Award

Legacy Award

At its 5th Annual Legacy Benefit on May 18th, the Western Reserve Historical Society honored the late Robert L. Hunker and Mr. Jonathan Sandvick & Associates for their contributions to historic preservation in Northeast Ohio. On that balmy and beautiful evening, guests met at Hale Village on the green for an hors d’oeuvres reception prior to the presentation.

During the ceremony, Doris Hunker, Mr. Hunker’s sister and Chairperson of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, received the award on his behalf for his preservation work in Peninsula along with Foundation President Lawrence Drake Sulzer. The second award winner was Jonathan Sandvick & Associates for their preservation work on the Jonathan Hale Homestead at Hale Farm in the 1990s.

After the award ceremony, all of the buildings in the Village were open for tours and a silent auction was held to raise funds for Hale Farm’s historic structures.

The Peninsula Foundation and Hunker family are grateful to the Western Reserve Historical Society for acknowledging Mr. Hunker’s dedication and passion for preserving Peninsula’s historic treasures.
