The Civil War Through The Window of American Art

Our August speaker was Jesse Bryant Wilder, author of Art History For Dummies, who will presented The Civil War Through the Window of American Art: 1861-65.  It was a wonderful multimedia presentation that documented how photographers, sketch artists, painters, and more captured images during and after the Civil War.

Jesse Bryant Wilder is an award-winning journalist, art historian, art, theater and film critic, the author of Art History For Dummies, former senior editor of Northern Ohio LIVE, former Kent State University Lecturer, and the founder and editor of Nexus Interdisciplinary Books. The seven titles in the Nexus series are used in more than 500 secondary schools across theUnited States.

Mr. Bryant Wilder holds a BA in English from Bennington College and two master’s degrees, an MA and MAT from Kent State University where he served as a lecturer in the Department of English. He is certified in the state of Ohio to teach 7-12-grade English. He also teaches French and art history.

Mr. Bryant Wilder is also a documentary film producer, writer, videographer and video editor.
