Victorian Tea & Fashion Show

On Thursday afternoon March 24 the Foundation hosted an afternoon winter blues get away with a superb High Tea and Victorian Fashion Show at our Grand Army of the Republic Hall. Fine china and lace adorned tables where guests were served savories of scones, glorious salad, entrees, sweet deserts and teas. Period attired servers doted over an appreciative crowd.

Ladies, children and gentleman graced the hall as models in an array of casual to formal fashion representing the era of 1837 to 1901. Carlean Perez coordinated the artistry of the event as a costumed Impressionist painter brought models to life stepping though a life size frame at center stage. Friends and docents supported the event by creating the meal and volunteering time to attend to the many necessary details. A commentary along with music added ambiance to the presentation; Mr. Fun’s Costumes was most helpful in attire selection.

A nicer afternoon would not be imagined and requests for a return performance next year were made. Souvenir menus were appreciated, best attire award presented to Ms. Lucille Wingard, and thanks given to Michael Yajko for his lovely photography. Our archives now include his DVD available to revisit this lovely afternoon. The Foundation is indebted to their devoted volunteers and friends for the speculator success story.
